About Us

My
Story
Hi My name is Rory Lalonde, Owner of Altitude Carpentry. I’m a Red Seal Carpenter with a passion for building homes and structures that are not only functional but also sustainable and energy-efficient. My journey in carpentry began in 2011, and over the years, I’ve honed my skills in a wide variety of areas including framing, finishing, decking, fencing, concrete work, renovations, tiny homes, commercial buildings, industrial formwork, flooring, sheet metal roofing, interior trim, cabinetry, and much more. My extensive experience across different aspects of the trade has given me a well-rounded perspective on how to approach any project with precision and care.

I am deeply interested in green building techniques, passive house design, solar power, building science, and energy efficiency. My personal commitment to these values has led me to embrace alternative construction methods. For example, I’ve lived off-grid with my wife and daughter in a tiny home I built from an old school bus, and as a family, we are now planning to build an off-grid home using hempcrete—a sustainable, eco-friendly building material.

I started Altitude Carpentry because I wanted to move away from mainstream construction methods that I believe can be harmful to the health of the occupants and our environment. The traditional materials and techniques often lack consideration for the long-term impacts on both people and the planet. With Altitude Carpentry, I aim to offer a more conscious and environmentally responsible approach to building, prioritizing the use of natural, non-toxic materials and energy-efficient systems that will stand the test of time.
I look forward to working with you and bringing your unique vision to life, all while ensuring that we are building in harmony with nature and creating spaces that promote health, well-being, and sustainability.
